The MCC group is proud to announce the conference entitled “Pharmacovigilance in Middle East" to be held on 20-21st Jan, 2012 in Yas Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The importance of this topic and the desire to increase the awareness of this issue lies mainly on the effect of its real practice which will be reflected ultimately on Patient's safety which is the golden goal seeked by all healthcare team.
Based on Facts published by WHO regarding patient safety stating that adverse reactions to drugs are estimated to be between the fourth to sixth leading cause of death in USA and more than 10% of adverse drug reactions lead to hospitalization make it essential for healthcare system to overcome the concerns regarding drug related problems by rapid and ambitious efforts in the way of pushing patient’s safety to the maximum.
As stated by WHO through a study conducted in low to moderate income countries including The UAE, the three main causes that impede our progress regarding patient’s safety were a lack of training, poor medicine safety reporting culture and lack of funding.

We at the MCC group provide this scientific program as it is our role to improve the awareness of the Pharmacovigilance not only from theoretical point of view rather from practical point of view as we will introduce a successful models and experience in pharmacovigilance in the middle east through different workshops in the upcoming conference and presenting many topics that will affect the real practice of Pharmacovigilance in the middle east by discussing critical issues such as the standards adopted internationally and introducing key points related to Personnel training plans.
